L01: Introduction
Introduction to Academic Writing in English
“The beautiful part of writing is that you don’t have to get it right the first time, unlike, say, a brain surgeon.” (Robert Cromier, American author and journalist)
In this session, we will focus on academic/science writing in English in general terms. Questions we will address are why we need to write in English, what is generally understood by academic/science writing in English, and which personal writing challenges we face. In the last step, we will be looking at the general features of academic English.
