Welcome to Frankfurt am Main – the most cosmopolitan and international city in Germany, a vibrant commercial and financial metropolis, and the city of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and the Frankfurt School.

And welcome also to the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main. The university is named after Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the Frankfurt-born polymath renowned for his exceptional contributions to literature, science, and philosophy. Founded in 1914 with private funding and inspired by the legacy of the European Enlightenment, our University stands out as a pioneering “citizens’ university” - and the history of the university is one of openness and public participation.

The Goethe-University Frankfurt, positioned among the top international research universities, offers a wide variety of academic programmes, a diverse group of research institutes, and a focus on interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex problems. A total of roughly 46.000 students were enrolled at Goethe-University.

The GeoTraining will take place in the PEG-building on the Campus Westend.

Accommodation

The accommodation provided is located about four kilometres from the university. It is the Youth Hostel. Breakfast and dinner is included. The youth hostel is situated close to the Main River and offers a view of the famous Frankfurt skyline, just a ten minutes walk away from the city centre.
